Chelsea legend, Tony Cascarino has insisted that former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson would get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo under the current circumstances.

Ronaldo is said to have told Manchester United that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

He wants to join a club in the Champions League but the Red Devils are unwilling to sell and no suitable clubs appear to be interested.

And Cascarino insists legendary former boss, Ferguson would have offloaded the 37-year-old by now.

“How would Sir Alex handle the Ronaldo of today, if he had him in his camp as a manager? He said on talkSPORT.

“I think he would’ve got rid of him. He got rid of great players: Ruud van Nistelrooy, Roy Keane.

“I’m not a fan of keeping players who don’t want to be anywhere near the football club.”

Ronaldo did not participate in Manchester United’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia but returned to the club later on and was involved in their friendly game with Rayo Vallecano.

The 37-year-old however angered the manager when he abandoned the team at half-time during the game and completely left Old Trafford when the match was still on.

But the Portuguese are expected to start for the Red Devils when they face Brighton in their first game of the season on Sunday.
