Nollywood actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has joined the chorus of critics condemning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and other officials in Rivers State. Okonkwo described the suspension as illegal and an affront to democracy.
In a scathing critique, Okonkwo argued that President Tinubu’s actions undermine the principles of democracy and the rule of law. He emphasized that the suspension of elected officials is a clear indication of anarchy looming in Nigeria due to the policies of the present government.
The suspension of Governor Fubara and other officials has sparked widespread controversy, with many arguing that it is an unconstitutional move. The crisis in Rivers State has been marked by a struggle for control between Governor Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Okonkwo’s criticism of President Tinubu’s actions highlights the growing concerns about the erosion of democratic institutions and the rule of law in Nigeria. His stance underscores the need for adherence to constitutional principles and the protection of democratic governance in the country.
