Nigerian gospel singer Chinedu Nwadike has died after a protracted battle with blood cancer.

The 39-year-old reportedly died in Abuja on Sunday afternoon.

His demise was announced by socialite Darlington Chidera Ibekwe.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Ibekwe wrote; ‘Rest In Peace Prince Chinedu Nwadike 💔”

It was gathered that the ‘Marry Me’ singer recovered from kidney disease and was expected to be flown abroad for treatment of the blood cancer.

A few weeks before his death, a video of Chinedu Nwadike soliciting financial assistance from prominent Nigerians to pay his medical bills surfaced online.

From the video shared, the late musician was in a hospital bed and not in a good shape.

Some of his hit tracks include God of Vengeance, AFO Ngozi’m, Marry Me, I do.

He was a dancer with Gozie Okeke in almost every gospel music dance.

Later in life, Nwadike went on to become a full-fledged gospel singer as well as an actor. He claims that before he started singing and selling his own music, he relied on dancing for other musicians to make ends meet. He was also ex-governor Okorocha’s special assistant on mobilisation and a former member of Imo State pilgrim board.

He was married to Dorah Nwadike and they had three children together.
