The legal team representing Sophia Momodu, the mother of Nigerian Afrobeat star Davido’s child, has issued a stern warning to the singer and his supporters following a series of public outbursts on social media. The dispute stems from Davido’s recent posts expressing frustration over what he described as “insensitive remarks regarding his deceased son” made during cross-examination in a Lagos State court. In his posts, Davido targeted Sophia’s lawyer, Ebelechukwu Enedah, with harsh words, accusing her of being “wicked” and “the worst lawyer ever,” and even mistakenly involved gospel artist Tosin Bee, leading to a wave of online harassment.
In response, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, the law firm representing Sophia Momodu, released a statement condemning the inflammatory public statements directed at their partner, Ebelechukwu Enedah. The firm emphasized that the child custody case is sub judice and will be decided by the court based on evidence and law, warning that attempts to intimidate legal practitioners could undermine the rule of law. “If legal practitioners are to be threatened, intimidated, or exposed to harassment outside the courtroom for asking questions, testing evidence, or discharging their professional duty to their clients, then the very foundation of justice is imperilled,” the statement read.
