Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has joined the debate surrounding the social media feud between Grammy-winning singer Wizkid and Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti over who holds greater musical influence.
Yencityjamz reports that the dispute began after Wizkid made remarks suggesting his success surpasses that of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Fela, responded sharply on social media, arguing that his father’s impact goes beyond fame or awards.
He stated that Fela’s music shaped political awareness and inspired people to question authority, a contribution he believes cannot be measured by modern pop success.
Charly Boy added his perspective, posting a reflective message online.
He compared Wizkid’s global fame and ability to entertain massive crowds with Fela’s fearless activism and revolutionary music.
According to him, while Wizkid brings joy and escape through his performances, Fela’s work challenged people to think deeply and confront societal issues.
He said that both artistes belong to different times and face different struggles.
While Wizkid dominates charts and shows, Fela influenced minds and inspired courage.
Charly Boy concluded by reminding fans that greatness is not measured by popularity alone, but by the impact one leaves on people’s hearts and minds.
“Wizkid can make your body move, Fela can make your mind free,” he wrote.
