Nollywood’s Funke Akindele has hit back at colleague Kunle Afolayan over his shady statement about the pressure of promoting cinema movies. Afolayan had expressed frustration with the demands of promoting films, seemingly comparing his workload to Akindele’s prolific content creation.
Akindele wasn’t having it, responding with a pointed message: “I’m not the one hindering your progress. Don’t let jealousy get in the way, my brother.” She encouraged filmmakers to explore alternative marketing strategies, saying “If you can’t beat them or join them, create your own path” and “The sky is so big for everybody to fly”.
The drama follows Akindele’s movie “Behind The Scenes” grossing ₦2.4 billion at the Nigerian box office, while Afolayan’s own projects haven’t seen similar success. Akindele emphasized that everyone has their own path and opportunities are endless, advising Afolayan to focus on his craft.
