Don Moen, a renowned gospel music icon, has shared heartfelt memories of his friend and collaborator, Ron Kenoly. Moen recalled their first meeting at Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California, where Kenoly was leading worship. He invited Kenoly to lead worship for one of Hosanna! Music’s releases, which became “Jesus Is Alive”.
Their collaboration blossomed into a long-lasting friendship and multiple projects. Moen described Kenoly as a “good and faithful servant”, expressing his grief over the loss. “My heart is heavy with this loss, but I know one day I will see my friend again,” he said.
Kenoly’s music has inspired generations of worship leaders and psalmists. His songs, such as “Ancient of Days” and “Lift Him Up”, remain staples in churches worldwide. Nathaniel Bassey, a Nigerian gospel artist, praised Kenoly for inspiring generations of psalmists.
The gospel music community is mourning Kenoly’s passing, remembering his contributions to contemporary Christian music. His legacy will live on through his music and the lives he touched.
