Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially declared open the 48th Meeting of the National Council on Establishments in Port Harcourt, bringing together key government officials and stakeholders from across Nigeria to discuss policies aimed at strengthening the nation’s public service.
During the opening ceremony, Governor Fubara highlighted his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers in Rivers State. He noted that the state currently pays a minimum wage above the national benchmark while ensuring the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities, and bonuses. According to the governor, these measures reflect his government’s determination to prioritize the well-being of civil servants.
Fubara also pointed to ongoing reforms within the state’s civil service, including regular staff promotions and the remodeling of the Rivers State Secretariat into a modern, technology-driven workplace. He explained that these initiatives are designed to improve efficiency, boost productivity, and create a more conducive working environment for public servants.
Addressing delegates at the meeting, the governor urged participants to develop practical and forward-looking recommendations that would strengthen public institutions, promote professionalism, enhance transparency, and improve service delivery across Nigeria’s civil service.
