Nigerian female sensational singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted being booed during a stage performance at a school event.
Yencityjamz reports that Tems, during an interview with Big Boy TV, recalled the challenges she faced in the early days of her music career.
The R&B star said she was not only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
According to the ‘Crazy Tings’ crooner, despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a music career.
She said, “I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me.”
Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stay true to her originality rather than do covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
Meanwhile, Tems has debunked rumours that she is working on a new song with rapper Odumodublvck after a video of the pair in a studio began spreading online.
The conversation started when a clip showed Odumodublvck recording in a studio, with Tems and her manager also present.
The video led many fans to believe the two artistes were already working on a joint track, and social media users quickly began to discuss a possible collaboration.
But Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi has explained that there is no collaboration in progress.
He stated that Tems only dropped by the studio casually and was not there to record music with Odumodublvck.
According to him, the visit was informal and not related to any joint work.
